Ikoyi

Between Mount Etna and the Sea: Where lava stone architecture frames the Mediterranean landscape.

The brief made the ambition unmistakably clear: the clients sought a landmark—an iconic building that would stand out within the vibrant and ever-evolving landscape of Lagos. Overlooking the lagoon, the main residence and its adjoining garden house had to be truly unique, a singular presence within the dense Nigerian metropolis, while above all ensuring unparalleled comfort and complete security for its inhabitants.

These expectations naturally led to a design exploration that moved far beyond conventional forms. The resulting geometries, bold and sculptural, define spaces that captivate and envelop, offering residents and guests an experience that is both immersive and unforgettable. From the very entrance, the inclined walls create an unexpected visual rhythm, while the carefully selected materials—rich, tactile, and expressive—interact with meticulously curated vegetation, transforming the arrival sequence into a theatrical prelude.

This introduction sets the emotional tone for what unfolds inside: a carefully orchestrated spatial journey. A gallery showcasing the family’s art collection guides visitors toward the core of the home, opening into a luminous and majestic double-height space. Here, the main living rooms extend toward the lagoon, dissolving the barrier between interior and landscape and framing views that become integral to daily life.

The result is an architecture that is not merely a residence but an experience in itself—an unmistakable landmark within Lagos, a place where identity, prestige, and intimacy converge to offer its inhabitants a secure and deeply personal sanctuary.
